Obverse - GOVERNMENT OF INDIA on top centre. Serial number with prefix placed on top and bottom on either side. Promise text below with denomination "FIVE in large font, Burma excluded. Below the promise text is language panel containing denomination in different languages. Below language panel identical dates on either half Bottom left is "FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA" in a panel and to right is signature. Denomination panel on either side aligned vertically with 5/RUPEES on top followed by numerals in the Same languages and order as in the language panel. Red underprint of two ovals under serial number above and large "5" in middle.
